AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's track and field teams shattered three records in three events Saturday on the final day of competition at the 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
"They ran really well today," Director of Track and Field Shawn Flanagan said. "They competed in three relays and destroyed three records."
The Islanders started the day in the women's 4x200 meter relay. Kassandrea Son, Shakelia Coleman, Ernestine Cray and Ashley Rosebrough teamed up to finish in eighth place with a time of 1:36.15 to break the Islanders record.
BreAnna Briggs, Sidney Siepert, Jasmine Boutte and Danielle Higgins followed in the women's distance medley relay. The four clocked a time of 11:46.02 to place 12th and break the Islanders school record of 12:07.07 set at the Texas Relays in 2010. Briggs is the only returner from that relay team.
The men's distance medley relay also broke the school record with a ninth-place finish. The team of Patrick Kimeli, Cordarius Edmondson, Valentinas Rudys and Paul Hansel clocked a time of 9:52.89.
"It was a highly successful weekend for the Islanders," Flanagan added. "We are looking good."
The Islanders will next be in action on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7, at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
