Mateo Rengifo

Mateo Rengifo joined Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in December 2025 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement.

With the Islanders, Rengifo leads the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives designed to elevate the Islanders Athletics brand, grow fan attendance, and strengthen engagement among students, alumni, and the Coastal Bend community. He oversees game presentation, digital and traditional marketing campaigns, fan experience programming, and campus outreach efforts that enhance the visibility and impact of Islanders Athletics.

Before coming to the Island, Rengifo served at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), where he was elevated to Director of External Relations in January 2025. In this role, he oversaw marketing, media relations, branding, and broadcasting initiatives for UIW Athletics. Rengifo originally joined UIW in June 2024 as the Athletics Marketing and Fan Engagement Coordinator, implementing marketing plans for all varsity sports and driving notable increases in attendance. He also launched initiatives that significantly boosted student participation through targeted outreach, themed game promotions, and enhanced student-section experiences.

Rengifo also had stops at the Southland Conference, Southeastern Louisiana University, and the PGA of America Gulf States Section, gaining valuable experience in championship operations, community relations, and fan engagement.

A native of Georgia, Rengifo earned both his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and his Master of Business Administration from Southeastern. He was also a collegiate football student-athlete for six years, competing at both Georgia State University and Southeastern, where he concluded his athletic career.
