Julia Carter

Julia Carter returned to the Island as an assistant coach after having competed for the Islanders volleyball team from 2018-22. She was a part of the squads that won back-to-back championships in the 2020 and 2021 seasons to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Carter works primarily with hitters and blockers and was essential in developing two All-Conference selections in outside hitter Kyndal Payne and middle blocker Leah Stolfus, with Payne becoming a two-time AVCA All-American following the 2023 season. She also assisted with the program securing its first 20+ season since 2016 after a 22-10 record in 2023 that saw an appearance in the Southland Conference Tournament final.

During her time as a student-athlete, she took on a role as camp instructor at two different Division I volleyball programs. She gained experience working with athletic department staff and teammates to organize drills and instruct technique, obtaining valuable skills in volleyball strategy planning and leadership.

Her leadership at A&M-Corpus Christi was noted, as she was selected for the Connie & Jay Wise Islanders LEAD Program as one of 30 student-athletes to attend a leadership series.

Carter graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2022 with her bachelor's degree in Psychology before finishing out her athletic eligibility at Middle Tennessee University. She begins her coaching career on the Island, hoping to combine her degree and experience to enhance her role as assistant coach.
