JJ Jaeger

JJ Jaeger joined the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi sports performance staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2026-27 school year. He will be working with the soccer program as its strength and conditioning coach for its upcoming season.

Prior to coming to the Island, Jaeger most recently served as a student assistant coach for the Southern Methodist University (SMU) men's soccer team during the 2025 season. He played an important role on the Mustangs' coaching staff, aiding with goalkeeping and data science and helping them win their first-ever ACC title.

Jaeger began coaching following a three-year collegiate soccer career of his own, spending his first two seasons in 2022 and 2023 with Saint Francis before transferring to SMU for his final year on the pitch in 2024. With the Red Flash, Jaeger started all 31 possible games, first becoming the first member of the team to ever win the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Year during his freshman season in 2022. He then became the first Saint Francis player to ever win the NEC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2023 while also being named to the NEC All-Conference First Team and the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Prior to college, Jaeger played soccer professionally in Germany's 3rd division and youth levels for Türkgücü München, FC Ingolstadt 04, and Bologna FC, getting named Best Goalkeeper at championships and tournaments in 2010, 2013 and 2017. In addition, he also served as the Assistant Goalkeeper Coach at the youth levels for TSV 1860 München.

Jaeger, a dual American and German citizen, earned his Bachelor's of Science in Applied Physiology and Health Management from SMU and is currently pursuing a Master's of Science in Kinesiology at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He currently holds Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification, and he is currently working toward Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and USA Weightlifting L1 certifications. He follows a ground-up, total-body philosophy, developing a complete athlete through multiplanar movements and coaching the person first while understanding physiological and emotional individual differences.
