Becoming just the second person to serve as Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations in the history of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Athletics, Chris Turner was promoted to the position in July 2023.
 
Turner previously served as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations since Aug. 2021.
 
Turner first began at A&M-Corpus Christi in 2020 as a volunteer before taking a part-time role in the communications department. He helped with various tasks during the COVID-19 season in 2020-21 before moving into a full-time role.
 
Prior to coming to The Island, Turner was an award-winning sports writer, editor and page designer at four different newspapers over 15 years. Turner won 26 national, state and local awards for writing and page design at newspapers throughout Texas, including San Angelo, Odessa, El Paso and Corpus Christi.
 
He also helped write four books, was published in numerous magazines and newsletters, and briefly had his own radio show. Prior to moving to Corpus Christi in 2011, Turner was an administrator and part-owner of a nursing home outside of his hometown of Odessa, Texas.
 
Turner has a master's degree in sports management from the University of Texas and a bachelor's of kinesiology from Angelo State University. He and his wife, Amy, were married in 1993 and have three children Kaitlyn, Zach and Zane.
