Austin Gunnell

Austin Gunnell joined the staff of head coach Toyelle Wilson and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team as a video coordinator and assistant coach in May 2025. The 2025-26 season will be his first with the program.

Gunnell joins the Islanders after most recently serving as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball team at Baylor for the last two seasons. During Gunnell's tenure with the team, the Bears qualified for the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years, advancing to the Sweet 16 during the 2023-24 season and making it to the Round of 32 in 2024-25.

Prior to his time in Waco, Gunnell worked for the women's basketball team at the University of Michigan for two seasons, first serving as a student manager before then getting promoted to head manager ahead of the 2022-23 season. While Gunnell was in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines earned two NCAA Tournament berths, including the school's first-ever appearance in the Elite 8 in his first year and a Round of 32 showing in his second.

Gunnell graduated from Baylor with his bachelor's degree in Sport Management in 2023, and he would later earn his master's degree in the same major at Baylor in 2025.
