Hunter Nail

Nail enters his sixth year as an assistant coach under Coach Shaw after joining the Islanders in December 2016. He helped A&M-Corpus Christi to its record-high wins in 2019 at 9 as the team posted a winning 6-4-1 record in conference play in his third season.

As primary coach of the defenders, he's overseen four different SLC Players of the Week for six combined honors. His defenses have stood strong, setting program-bests of only 20 goals scored against in 2019 as well as helping the team to eight shutouts.
 
He served as an assistant to Shaw at Fort Hays State for five years. With Fort Hays State, Nail posted a record of 60-32-10 with two NCAA appearances, including the Sweet 16 in 2016. His defense was ranked eighth in NCAA Division II.
 
Nail served as a student assistant coach for the FHSU women's program throughout his four years as an undergraduate student.
 
Nail has helped the Tigers to a record of 40-31-7 in his time as a student assistant. He helped the program claim the MIAA Tournament Championship in 2012 to earn an automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Tournament. He also helped the program to its best-ever win percentage in 2014 as the team finished with a record of 13-5-2.
 
A Wylie, Texas native, Nail is married to his wife Courtney and has one son, Jamie.
