Kyra Henderson

Kyra Henderson joined the Islanders Beach Volleyball coaching staff in October of 2020.

In her first season in 2021, she helped lead the Islanders to the championship match in the first-ever SLC Tournament. A&M-Corpus Christi was ranked the highest of any team in the conference in the PABLO Team rankings to earn the No. 1 seed.

The Islanders posted a 7-0 record in the regular season against SLC opponents. Five of those seven matches were 5-0 sweeps. Additionally, the Islanders claimed a conference-best five Southland Pair of the Week awards, and four pairs earned SLC All-Conference honors.

Prior to coming to The Island, Kyra served as the head coach of Storm Performance Volleyball Club. Kyra began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M-Kingsville, where she coached both indoor and beach volleyball, and the team finished second in the Beach Volleyball AVCA Small College Tournament.

Henderson enjoyed a successful playing career at MiraCosta Community College and Texas A&M-Kingsville. While at MiraCosta, she played both indoor and beach volleyball, earning a conference championship in her sophomore year. As a senior for the Javelinas, she played beach, where she achieved an individual record of 21-8. Her team won the AVCA National Championship. 

A graduate of MiraCosta Community College and Texas A&M-Kingsville, she holds an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and a Bachelor's Degree in Communications.
