Joshua Biagtan was hired at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Track & Field prior to the start of the 2019-20 academic year. He previously served as an assistant coach under Marc Davis at Troy University in Troy, Alabama, before arriving on the Island.

During the 2022-23 campaign, Biagtan coached Capri Wilson to earning SLC All-Conference Third-Team honors while helping break numerous top 10 program records, including seven during the indoor season.

In the 2021-2022 season, the Sprints group continued to develop under Biagtan across both indoor and outdoor seasons. In the Outdoor Season, Capri Wilson became a 3 time Southland All-Conference performer for her efforts at the outdoor conference meet. Wilson finished 2nd in the 100m (11.50), 3rd in the 200m (24.06, new Personal Record & number 3 All-Time in school history) & a member of the 3rd place 4x100m team. Also under Biagtan’s guidance, Freshman Tranasia Jones won the Conference Championship in the 400m, in a new school record time of 55.10 seconds. Yasmine Steele also found her way to her first individual final, finishing 6th overall as well as being a member of the Bronze Medal 4x100 relay team. LaMyia Styles narrowly missed the conference final of the Women’s 100m by .002 seconds, but set a new personal best outdoors in 11.98 seconds and is now 7th all-time in the 100m & 8th all-time in the 200m. The Women’s 4x100m relay team of Capri Wilson, Yasmine Steele, Journi Williams & LaMyia Styles combined to finish 3rd overall at the conference meet.
 
Indoors, Deon McIver & John Moreno both set personal bests in the 200m & 400m respectively, as well as breaking into the All-Time top 10 lists. On the Women’s side, Capri Wilson set new personal bests in the 60m & 200m as well as moved up on the All-Time lists (60m-7.63, 5th AT; 200m-24.68, 3rd AT), as well as scoring in both events at conference. Tranasia Jones finished 5th overall in the Conference meet in a lifetime best of 57.17, which was good for 4th all time indoors. The Women’s 4x400m relay team of Jadyn Wagner, Riley Cowan, Tranasia Jones & Yasmine Steele finished 3rd overall in a time of 3:50.80.
 
In the 2021 Outdoor season, Biagtan assisted Coach Ericksen in developing 2 Bronze Medal winning 4x400m relays at the Southland Conference Championships. The Men’s 4x400m set the #2 time outdoors during the season, while the Women’s 4x400m relay broke the school record at the Southland Conference Championships (3:45.10). Biagtan also guided several sprinters to lifetime bests across all sprint events, in addition to several new top 10 times and a pair of school records (Capri Wilson: 100m-11.47 & T-Anna Dawkins: 400m-55.11). Capri Wilson also advanced to the First Round of the NCAA Championships where she finished 42nd overall in the West Region. 
 
In the 2020-2021 Indoor season, Biagtan assisted Coach Ericksen in guiding the Men’s Indoor Track & Field team set a new school record for points scored (73) and its highest ever finish (4th). Biagtan also assisted in guiding several Women’s sprinters to top 10 marks indoors in each of the sprint events, as well as assisting in the Men’s & Women’s 4x400m relays finishing on the podium (2nd & 3rd respectively).

In the 2019-2020 Indoor season, Biagtan assisted Coach Ericksen in developing school record breaking 4x400m relay teams, both on the Men’s & Women’s side. Biagtan also assisted Coach Ericksen in guiding Larissa Manciaz to the #2 time in the indoor 400m (56.29), as well as a 5th place finish.

In 2018-19, Biagtan assisted coach Marc Davis in the development and recruitment of the sprint, jump and hurdle groups. In the 18-19 indoor season, Biagtan guided freshman jumper Brittany Trawick to the No. 7 mark all time indoors (5.56m) in the long jump. In the outdoor season, Biagtan also guided Trawick to the No. 10 best mark all time in long jump (5.65m) as well as the No. 5 best mark all time in the triple jump (12.15m). Trawick was also the first scorer in the horizontal jumps for Troy University since 2016. In addition to guiding Trawick, Biagtan also assisted in developing a sprint group that swept the Sun Belt Outdoor Conference Championships in the men’s 200m, men’s 4x100m relay and women’s 4x400m relay.

During the 2017-18 school year, Biagtan assisted Marc Davis in developing a women’s sprint group that had four top-3 finishes indoors as well as a four-place improvement from the 16-17 standings. Outdoors in 17-18, Precious Ogba won the Sun Belt Conference Championship 400m race in a school record time of 53.66 seconds. She also placed fifth in the women’s 200m in 23.83 seconds, good for third all time. Ogba also qualified for the NCAA East Regional meet as well as the U20 Outdoor championships that year, in addition to winning the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year award outdoors. Myles Charley finished second in the long jump at the 2017 Sun Belt Outdoor Conference Championships.

Among his notable signees at Troy were Ogba, Trawick and Jasmine Riley who was a six-time Alabama State Champion and state record holder in the 100m and 200m.

Biagtan is a Stockton, California native and received his Bachelors degree (Kinesiology-Exercise Science) from Fresno State & his Masters degree (Kinesiology) from Troy University. He and his wife Garyn live in Corpus Christi with their son Emmanuel.
