In High School: Competed in both track and cross country at Clackamas High School for coaches Ford Morishita and Randy Walruff...Cavaliers won three district titles during his career...making switch to distance after running sprints in high school...clocked at 11.37 in the 100-meter dash, 22.53 in the 200 and 50.13 in the 400...best time in cross country was 17:02 at 6A state meet.

Personal: Born Gabriel Anthony Garza on Nov. 9, 1990 in Vancouver...has plans to major in marine biology.
