Bryan Jackson

Having experienced success at several levels of Division I, Bryan Jackson was appointed as Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in July 2023. The 2025-26 season will be his third with the Islanders.

The 2024-25 campaign saw Jackson build upon an already impressive start to his tenure at the head of the program. During Cross Country season, the Islanders finished second on the women's side and fourth on the men's side, making it back-to-back years that both teams placed in the top four in the Southland Conference. In addition to this, Elizabeth Khatevi became just the ninth athlete in program history and third woman to become an individual SLC Champion, and Dominic Kiptum became the fourth Islander to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships. Both Khatevi and Kiptum accomplished these feats in their freshman campaigns under Jackson.

The 2025 Track & Field season saw a historic effort for Jackson and the Islanders, with 40 different members of the team either cracking the school's all-time top 10 rankings for the first time or improving on their previous spots and 16 of them combining to break 20 different school records between the indoor and outdoor portions of the season. At the SLC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, Jackson helped five lead different Islanders -- Alicia Finnis (indoor 5,000m), Emily Malouf (indoor shot put), Cyan Green (indoor weight throw), Philip Jensen e Castro (outdoor 800m) and Khatevi (outdoor 800m, 1,500m and 5,000m) -- to individual conference championships while also overseeing fourth-place finishes for the women's team at both, which went down as its best-ever placement at the former and matched the previous best at the latter. Finally, five Islanders -- Green, Khatevi, Breyunna Dowell, Izac Canchola and Alex Del Popolo -- managed to qualify for the NCAA West Region First Round.

Jackson's first season with the Islanders in 2023 was something to remember, as he led the Men's Cross Country Team to their first ever Southland Conference Championship. At the end of the year, the team had taken home the Runner of the Year  Award (Mathayo Kiptoo Bundotich), four different All-Conference selections and three All-Academic Team selections. Jackson was named the Southland Conference Coach of the Year for Cross Country.

The success continued into Track & Field season, with 13 athletes receiving All-Conference honors and three athletes being named to the All-Academic Team. Jackson helped lead two individual conference champions in Triple Jump (Myla Tate) and the 5K (Dennis Kipngeno), both in indoor track.

Prior to his time on the Island, Jackson spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach at UCF. He also served successful stints at Pitt, Texas State, Bowling Green and Wofford.

Jackson helped coach UCF to its most prosperous period in program history as the women's team won four conference championships, the most of any women's program in AAC history. Jackson aided in sending eight student-athletes to the past two NCAA Championships and his distance squad saw unprecedented success in his tenure.

In distance alone, Jackson coached student-athletes to outdoor records in the 1500m and 3000m, as well as multiple cross country freshman records. Jackson's cross country team won its first home meet since 2013.

Jackson joined the UCF staff after three seasons as the men's cross country and assistant track and field coach at the Pitt. While with the Panthers, he led the cross country squad to its best ACC Championship team finish in program history.

Prior to Pitt, Jackson coached at Texas State from 2011-15 where he experienced tremendous success, including three Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship titles in 2013.

With the Bobcats, Jackson helped student-athletes break nine school records. He coached one NCAA National qualifier, eight NCAA Division I Preliminary qualifiers, 13 Sun Belt All-Conference performers, nine Western Athletic Conference All-Conference performers and four Southland All-Conference performers.

He made his collegiate coaching debut with the Falcons before taking over the Wofford cross country and track and field programs. He coached the 2009 Southern Conference Cross County Male Freshman of the Year and helped 15 student-athletes earn All-Freshman Team honors.

He coached student-athletes to four conference championships, 27 all-conference accolades and 65 school records. Under his tutelage, Nick Wolk was crowned the 5000m champion at the 2017 USA Track and Field Junior National Championship.

A Pittsburgh native, Jackson was a two-time letter winner for the Bowling Green cross country team while pursuing a degree in business administration.Â
