In High School: Coached by Mike Hale in cross country and Paul Turner in track at Foster High School in Richmond...finished his career strong in cross country winning district title en route to a fifth-place finish at the region meet to earn all-region honors...was 29th at state meet in final race ...also advanced to state as a junior after finishing sixth at the regional meet...team won district title his senior year and advanced to the state meet his sophomore season...clocked with a career best of 16:12 in the 5K as a junior...in track, he qualified for the regional meet in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs posting season best times of 4:34 and 10:11, respectively...had a career-best time of 9:58 in the 3,200 as a junior.
