Islanders Tennis Update: The Fourth Annual Mercedes-Benz A Huge Success

The Fourth Annual Mercedes-Benz A Huge Success

Islanders Tennis Event Was a Huge Success This Weekend

Sixteen competitors teamed with Islanders men’s and women’s players for a chance to win an all-expensive paid trip from Mercedes-Benz to Pinehurst, N.C.

This year’s winner for the men was Dr. Mike Rodriguez, who won a tough battle against Reese Buchanan, both former collegiate players and longtime friends and donors of Islanders Tennis.

The women’s flight was equally exciting and featured former Islanders team captains and assistant coaches Carlota Santos and Alexandra Williams.

Dr. Rodriguez and Mrs. Williams now advance to compete in Pinehurst, N.C. in the next round of the national Mercedes-Benz championships for a chance to win the Mercedes-Benz CIP package at the 2015 U.S. Open in New York City.

We want to give a big Islanders heartfelt thanks to Mr. Charlie Hicks of Mercedes-Benz of Corpus Christi for making this exciting high-level event possible. This was a high-level competition for the Corpus Christi tennis community as well as an important fundraiser for Islanders Tennis.

Last year the Islanders sent both men’s and women’s tennis teams to the NCAA Championships – one of only 39 universities in NCAA to send both teams. It is events like this and generous supporters such as Mr. Hicks and the players and the Mercedes-Benz who help the Islanders' success possible.

We also want to give a very special thanks to one of our great friends of Islanders Tennis, Gerry Maingot whose effort and expertise make this a top-notch event for Mercedes-Benz, the Islanders and our competitors.

Thank you for your continued support of Islanders Tennis!
