One of the oldest buildings on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi campus, the Fieldhouse is the practice home of the Islanders Basketball teams and the spirit squad as well as being the home of the Strength & Conditioning for all Islanders Athletics squads.
The Fieldhouse was once the home for the Tarpons basketball team, housing the team from 1968 through 1972. After intercollegiate athletics was discontinued following the 1971-72 academic year, it became the central facility for recreational sports on the campus. The Islanders volleyball program called the Fieldhouse home until the Dugan Wellness Center opened in 2009.
As the practice facility for men's and women's basketball, the fieldhouse houses locker rooms, an athletic training area and the new weight room for Islanders Strength and Conditioning. The new home of Islanders Strength and Conditioning features over 10 tons of weights. It provides athletes with a place to work out and improve away from the playing arena all year round.
