The Islanders' Student-Athlete Affairs program program is aimed at enhancing our student athlete's overall experience at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and assisting them in developing the necessary skills for success after college. The Islanders Cup Competition will challenge individuals and teams to compete against each other to earn points in the five commitment areas. The challenge will run from September 1 through May 1. The team with the highest point accumulation will be crowned the winner and will be announced at the annual Student-Athlete Banquet. The first place team receives $1000, second place $700, and third place $500. The first place team will be treated to a pizza dinner during finals. Points will be awarded in the following categories:
Academic Excellence -Â (based on previous spring and current fall semesters)
- Highest Team GPA (men's/women's) = 100 points
- Most improved GPA (men's/women's) = 75 points
- Each athlete with a 4.0 or better = 10Â points eachÂ

Personal & Career Development - Points will be awarded to student-athletes individually based on attendance at personal or career development events organized through the Center for Athletic Academic Services (CAAS). Points will also be given for attendance at pre-approved Athletic Department or campus organization events.Â
- CAAS Life Skills Seminar = 15 points/person (any event attended past the three required)
- Pre-approved Campus Event = 10 points/person
Commitment to Service - Points will be given for participation in Athletic Department-sponsored events as well as pre-approved individual and team events. Points will be awarded individually with the potential of a team bonus.
- Student-Athlete Participation = 20 points/person (must complete at least one hour of service)
- At the end of the competition, to ensure fairness due to the varied team sizes, the total number of points will be divided by the number of student-athletes on the active roster.
- Coach Participation = 25 points for each coach that attends an event
- Team Bonus = Points will be given based on the percentage of the team that attends
- 100% - 50
- >100%-85% - 35
- >85%-70% - 20
Leadership - Points will be given to each student-athlete that serves in a leadership role within the Athletic Department or campus community (i.e. SAAC, Student Organization/Club, etc.).
- Campus Organization = 25 points
- SAAC Meetings = 10 points/meeting
- Teams will only receive points if their two official representatives are in attendance.
- If a meeting or event conflicts with class, team travel or competition, the representative must make the SAAC Advisor aware prior to the meeting.Â
Islander Pride - Points will be awarded to teams that go the extra mile to support their fellow athletes at any of their home events.
- Attendance = 10 points/person

Scoring System:
Individual Points:Â Individuals will earn points for their team for each individual effort based on type of event/activity/achievement (see sections below).

Team Points:Â Team participation in community service and Islander Pride events will earn bonus points based on percentage of the team that attends (see sections below).Â

Photos: Photos taken at events and properly submitted will be worth five (5) points each up to two photos per event/activity (10 points max).

Events MUST be logged and photos MUST be submitted within two (2) weeks of the event. Points will be totaled every two weeks and will be displayed in the CAAS.
