FRISCO, Texas – Lucia Ramirez and
Tristan Gabbard of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team were both voted to the Southland Conference All-Academic Second Team, announced by the league office Thursday.
Ramirez, an All-Conference Second Team selection, led the Islanders with a 77.2 scoring average on the year and finished 13
th overall at the SLC Championships to help the squad win the title. She individually finished in the top-10 twice and top-15 four times this year. Ramirez is additionally a six-time Dean's List honoree and three-time SLC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree, nearing a perfect cumulative GPA with a 3.97 in her kinesiology degree.
Ramirez is now a two-time All-Academic recipient after earning Second Team honors last year also.
Gabbard was second on the team at a 77.9 scoring average, and posted her highest finish of the season individually at the SLC Championships where she led the team to the championship title with a fourth place finished. It helped her earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team in her debut season with the Islanders. Gabbard has maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA while working towards her MBA.
The Islanders turn in a 3.82 cumulative GPA as a squad, with Ramirez and Gabbard both hoisting GPAs above that average.
