Islanders Athletics Showcase Continued Academic Excellence in NCAA APR

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Athletic Department continued their excelled academic performance in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) with a score of 988 for the 2023-24 season, the NCAA announced Tuesday.  
 
The APR was created to provide a real-time measurement of academic success that is a team-based metric in which scholarship student-athletes earn one point each term for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
 
Nine of A&M-Corpus Christi's teams earned perfect APR scores of 1,000 for the 2023-24 year, including Men's Basketball, Men's Cross Country, Men's Tennis, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, Women's Golf, Beach Volleyball, Women's Tennis, and Women's Volleyball.  
  
Men's Basketball, Men's Cross Country, Men's Tennis, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, and Women's Tennis were also all top-10 nationally in their respective sport for their APR scores for 2023-24.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi posted an overall multi-year rate of 990, which brings together the four-year range from 2020-21 through 2023-24. The nationwide APR multi-year average was 984.
 
Five of A&M-Corpus Christi's teams posted perfect scores of 1,000 for their multi-year rate, including Men's Cross Country, Men's Tennis, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, and Women's Tennis.
 
Overall, 11 of the 14 teams (indoor and outdoor track combined as one) logged multi-year scores that met or surpassed the national average in their sport. These sports included the five that posted perfect scores of 1,000. Others were Men's Basketball (995), Beach Volleyball (994), Women's Golf (992), Women's Soccer (989), Men's Track (983), and Women's Track (984).
