HOUSTON, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field team heads to its final meets of the outdoor regular season this week, first stopping in Houston for the Cameron Burrell Invitational on Thursday and Friday before then traveling north to College Station on Saturday for the Alumni Muster, hosted by Texas A&M.
For the first two days, the Islanders will send a contingency of 12 to Houston to feature in five different field events. Competing on Thursday are sophomore
Caeden Croft and senior
Noah Gonzales in the men's high jump, sophomore
Emmanuel Ekuma and freshman
Riley Wampler in the men's discus, sophomore
Jayda Hough in the women's high jump and senior
Emily Malouf and junior
Cyan Green in the women's discus. This group will be joined on Friday by freshmen
Erik Castillo and
Nico Silva, sophomore
Breyunna Dowell and seniors
Katie Long and
Izac Canchola, with Castillo, Silva and Canchola competing in the men's hammer throw with Ekuma and Dowell and Long featuring on the women's side of the same event with Green and Malouf.
After finishing up in Houston, the unit will then make the trip to join the rest of the Islanders for the lone day of competition in College Station, the team's second stop there during the outdoor season after also going to the 44 Farms Team Invitational on April 11 and 12. This meet marks the Islanders' final tune up before the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, which start two weeks later on May 15.
Both days of the Cameron Burrell Invitational will be available to watch live on the Houston Athletics YouTube channel. The live results for both meets will also be available to follow along on all three days this week.
