NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team made its fifth straight conference finals but unfortunately couldn't match the previous three years' results, falling 3-0 to No. 1 Boise State Friday.
It was the second time the Islanders (22-13) faced off with Boise State this tournament, first taking them down 3-2 in the winner's bracket semifinals yesterday. However, the Broncos found momentum after defeating San Jose State earlier in the day and took that into today's rematch.
It is the fifth year in a row that the Islanders have made the championship final and the first since 2021 that they didn't finish on top.
Each court was closely contested despite the final match score, with multiple sets requiring extra points. Additionally, four of the five courts went to three sets with
Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo/
Ashlyn Rough close to clinching a point in their third set at court five.
The Islanders concluded a season that saw its fourth consecutive 20+ win season, finishing this year with the 22-13 record. They also received votes in the AVCA Poll every week this season.
