Corpus Christi, Texas – The 19TH annual Islander Athletic Fund Golf Classic, presented by American Bank, resulted in just under $92,000 to support scholarships for student-athletes at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
The event was held at the Corpus Christi Country Club last Monday, and the funds raised is a new record for the long-standing event, surpassing last year's previous record of $84,000.
"The success of this year's IAF Golf Classic is a true testament to the incredible passion and support of our community," said vice president of intercollegiate athletics
Adrian Rodriguez. "Raising a record amount not only reflects our shared commitment to excellence but also helps ensure our student-athletes have the resources they need to thrive in and out of athletics. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this milestone event, the impact will be felt across our programs for years to come."
The event featured a lunch, silent auction, and awards reception for the top teams in the classic's four-person scramble. Islanders student-athletes from men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, and spirit were also in attendance to interact with participants through hosting different holes along the course.
