SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team finalized a dominant performance at the SLC Championships to end round three atop the leaderboard to win the title for the first time in 16 years.
The Islanders turned in their second round under 300 this tournament to expand on a 10-stroke lead they built after day two and ended with a 17-stroke advantage to come away with the SLC Championship. They were the only team under 900 for the week, as the 299 today took them to an 885 54-hole total.
It marks the program's second ever conference title and first since 2009, and it comes under first-year head coach
Chris Adams.
Additionally,
Tristan Gabbard made her first season with the Islanders a memorable one as she birdied 18 in the final group of the day to close out the championship and be named to the All-Tournament Team, ending fourth individually with a 218 total (+2).
Elsa Tornvall and
Samantha Gibbs also posted top-10 finishes in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Lucia Ramirez rounded out the team in 13

The NCAA Selection Show will be on April 23 at 12 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel as the Islanders now wait to see which Regional they will head to.
