BATON ROUGE, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team concluded LSU's Battle on the Bayou with a pair of victories, closing out the weekend topping South Carolina 3-2 and Southern Miss 5-0 Saturday.
The Islanders (18-11) rebounded after a tough first day in the Bayou to end on a high note entering next weekend's regular season finale. Their win over the Gamecocks marks their first against them as well as their first win over an SEC school. However, it is their fifth ever victory over a Power Four squad.
They also improved to 6-0 all-time over Southern Miss.
The four, five, and six pairings all went 2-0 on the day to secure the undefeated day for the team.

Ashlyn Rough posted a pair of 21-18 sets over South Carolina before hammering down 21-10, 21-16 versus Southern Miss at No. 4.

Bryce Ranney also won in straight sets today at No. 5, with a 21-16, 26-24 win over the Gamecocks before notching the 21-17, 21-15 decision against Southern Miss.

Kela Moreno rounded out the lineup at No. 6 with 21-19, 21-6 and 21-18, 21-17 victories, respectively.

The Islanders will now look towards their final two regular season matches next weekend in Texas's Lone State Invitational, facing Cal Poly and North Florida before heading into the SLC Championships April 23-25.
