BATON ROUGE, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team put up a fight Friday but ultimately fell in close decisions to Tulane 3-2 and #11 LSU 4-1 on day one of LSU's Battle of the Bayou.
The Islanders (16-11) unfortunately came up on the short end of multiple tight sets in both matches today to be edged out twice by RV Tulane and #11 LSU. The match against the Tigers marked the fifth contest against a top-20 team for the Islanders this year, having taken at least one point in three of those.

Millie Olsson at the No. 2 spot had the honor of putting up the point against LSU, completing a 2-0 day as a pair. They defeated Tulane 21-15, 24-22 before battling back against the host Tigers to accomplish the three-set comeback .
It is the duo's second ranked win of the year after they also took a point from #10 Arizona State earlier this year.
Also notching a win today was the threes pair of Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo/
Ashlyn Rough in the first match with a 21-18, 21-16 victory.
The Islanders will finish out their weekend in the Bayou tomorrow with matches against South Carolina and Southern Miss at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
