TEMPE, Ariz. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team took on a tall order of facing two top-10 teams and came up short in both, falling to Cal Poly 5-0 and Arizona State 4-1.
The Islanders (5-5) played each match tight despite the final results, with multiple courts drawing out on their battles.
The squad that pulled out a victory against the hosts Arizona State was the pairing of
Kristin Bobay and
Millie Olsson who got it done at No. 2. After dropping a tough first set 21-18, they battled back to win the second in a narrow 21-19 margin before securing the point for the Islanders in a 15-11 deciding third set.
They also played Cal Poly tight in the first, just getting edged in extra points in the first set 26-24. Narrowly missing out on a win today was

Ashlyn Rough at court five against Arizona State, falling in a three-set decision.
They have faced three nationally ranked teams in a row after also playing #14 Texas last weekend.
The Islanders will close out the weekend hoping for a high note, taking on Coastal Carolina at 9:30 a.m. whom they defeated last weekend in a 4-1 decision.
