CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will get its Southland Conference campaign underway this weekend when they host UIW in the first three-game league series of the year at Chapman Field.
The Islanders (6-14) will take on the Cardinals (9-9) in a doubleheader Friday beginning at 12 p.m. before the third and final game of the series will be played Saturday also with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
UIW was picked to finish third in the league this year in the SLC Preseason Poll after making a run to the conference championship game in 2024 following a 15-8 record. The Islanders checked in at sixth, finishing last season 9-15 in conference play.
The Islanders just edge UIW 14-13 in the all-time series and won the last home conference series against the Cardinals 2-1 in 2023. They are 6-5 all-time when playing UIW at home.
