TEMPE, Ariz. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program will be put to the test this weekend, taking on No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 10 Arizona State, and Coastal Carolina in the Sun Devil Classic at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility.
The Islanders (5-3) will first face the Mustangs (2-2) Friday at 12 p.m. before taking on hosts Arizona State (5-5) later at 4 p.m. They will close out the weekend in a rematch with Coastal Carolina (4-4) Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
With their first two opponents of the weekend being ranked, the Islanders will play three straight top-20 opponents after facing No. 14 Texas last weekend. The Islanders are no stranger to a national ranking either, having been ranked No. 18 in the 2024 final AVCA Coaches Poll. They have continued to receive votes every week this season.
Setting a high caliber is the No. 1 pair of
Tess Spaansen and
Madison Morrow, who have been spotless at the top flight with the 8-0 record. They have gone 14-2 in sets this year for the undefeated match record, including notching a straight set win over No. 14 Texas last weekend.
The duo of
Jade Bennett and
Bryce Ranney have nearly matched that success, going 7-1 as a pair mainly from court five. They moved up to No. 4 against the Longhorns last weekend and took that in a 2-1 decision.
Live scoring will be available for all tournament matches.
