ABILENE, Texas – Due to unplayable wind speeds in the area, the West Texas Classic suspended the third round of play Tuesday at Abilene Christian with results from rounds one and two becoming final.
The Islanders carded a 307 in the first round before turning in a 317 in the second round for the 624 36-hole total. They were finalized in eighth place out of the 16-team field, finishing ahead of every Southland Conference opponent also competing in the tournament.

"The conditions weren't ideal to play in yesterday with wind gusts up to 40 mph, but we were at least able to finish two rounds," said head coach
Chris Adams. "Today we played about eight holes before calling us because wind gusts were in the 50 mph range which made play almost impossible. Lucia [Ramirez] had a good tournament, but we still left some shots out there. We will continue to make improvements in our course management as well as overall shotmaking to get better!"
The Islanders will next compete in South Dakota State's 2025 Jackrabbit Invitational next week sited in Boulder City, Nevada.
