BEAUMONT, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team will be back competing this week, playing in Lamar's Cardinal Challenge Monday and Tuesday at the Beaumont Country Club.
The first two rounds will be played Monday while the final round will get underway Tuesday. Both days are set with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at the Beaumont Country Club, which houses a par 71, 6,077-yard course.
The Islanders will be competing in a seven-team field, alongside Texas State, Blinn College, Niagara, Midwestern State, McLennan CC, and Lamar.

"We have had a couple of weeks off working hard on some things and are ready to go," said head coach
Chris Adams. "They are all familiar with the course from playing it the last couple of years. This is the first of three events in the next three weeks, so we must also be mentally tough!"
It will have been three weeks since the Islanders were last in action, most recently playing in South Dakota State's Jackrabbit Invitational on March 10-11. However, it will begin a three-week stretch of play as the Islanders will play at SMU April 7-8 before heading to the SLC Championships April 14-16.
The Islanders were led by the consistent play of
Lucia Ramirez in their last tournament, who shot 74-72-77 – 223 on the week, just +7.
Tristan Gabbard was one stroke behind her through three rounds, opening the tournament strong with a 69 (-3) round one score. She is the second Islander to submit a sub-70 round this spring.
Samantha Gibbs was the first to do so, shooting a 69 in the Islanders Classic where she won the individual title while also helping the team win the tournament for the second year in a row. She is the reigning SLC Golfer of the Month for February after that strong spring opening performance.
The Islanders have finished ahead of every conference opponent they've played against this spring.
