THIBODAUX, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team came short of the undefeated conference record this season, posting yet another 5-0 win over San Jose State before falling in a narrow 3-2 decision to Boise State in the league finale Sunday in the SLC Midseason Tournament.
The Islanders (12-9, 7-1 SLC) neared the regular season title for the third straight year after posting their fifth consecutive 5-0 sweep before being barely edged by Boise State in the weekend finale. It is the first ever regular season loss to a conference opponent since 2019, holding a 40-1 record since then.
The weekend additionally served as a seeding configuration for the Southland Conference Championships in April, with the Islanders getting the No. 2 seed.

Tess Spaansen posted the undefeated weekend, battling a difficult day that saw two three-set victories from that top court. They defeated San Jose State 18-21, 21-5, 15-6 before taking a 21-12, 19-21, 15-10 decision from Boise State's ones.
Also going untouched this weekend was
Jade Bennett/
Bryce Ranney from court five. They opened the day with a 21-13, 21-16 win before following it up with a grinding 21-18, 30-28 decision against Boise State.
Courts two, three, and four for the Islanders didn't concede a set against San Jose State to aid in the squad's fifth straight sweep over the weekend. The Islanders finished the league slate with six sweeps, outscoring their conference opponents 36-4 in duals.
The Islanders will take a week off before returning to their home courts for the Islanders Classic on April 4-5 at Water's Edge Park. The SLC Championships are set for April 25-27 in New Orleans.
