THIBODAUX, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team yet again cruised through two conference opponents, toppling HCU and New Orleans in clean 5-0 decisions on day two of the SLC Midseason Tournament.
The Islanders (11-8, 6-0 SLC) have now won five of their conference matches in 5-0 sweeps, outscoring Southland opponents 29-1 in duals. They have yet to drop a regular season matchup in conference play since head coach
Gayle Stammer took over the program in 2016, improving now to a 39-0 record.
It sets them up for a look at three-peating the regular season championship as they head into their final two matchups tomorrow. They will face San Jose State at 9 a.m. before closing out against Boise State at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last year's tournament championship match. The Broncos are the only other team so far undefeated in league play this year.

Ashlyn Rough at line four matched the previous two pairings for an untouched day with a pair of straight set wins.

Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo battled out a 2-0 day at court three after coming back against HCU 17-21, 21-13, 15-13 to defend the sweep streak before posting the 21-16, 21-12 win against New Orleans.
Tomorrow will see the Islanders fighting for their third consecutive regular season title and sixth championship in four seasons.
