AUSTIN, Texas – Opening the Longhorn Invitational untouched, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team topped SFA in a clean 5-0 victory before securing a 4-1 revenge win over Tulane Friday at the Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex.
The Islanders (4-2) have now won three in a row and improve to 2-0 in conference play already this year. They have yet to concede a regular season match to a conference opponent since head coach
Gayle Stammer took over at the helm in 2016, extending to 35-0 against Southland teams.
The Islanders kept things consistent between the two matches, going with the same lineup as four of the pairs came away with the 2-0 day.

Tess Spaansen defended the No. 1 spot, extending their undefeated record to 6-0 on the year from that top court with a pair of victories today. They outlasted SFA in a three-set grind to complete the match sweep and then rounded out the day with a straight set win over Tulane's ones.
Returning to the sand was
Kristin Bobay, who paired with
Millie Olsson at court two on the day. They were opposite of court one, taking their first match cleanly while they had to go three with Tulane after going down a set. They were able to outlast the Green Wave's No. 2 pair by narrow margins of 21-19 and 17-15 in sets two and three for the point.
Newcomers
Ashlyn Rough and
Veronique Magnan took care of business at court four, helping the Islanders quickly take a 1-0 lead in both matches. The court five pairing of
Jade Bennett and
Bryce Ranney saw the only duo sweep both their contests, including being the decisive court in the victory over Tulane.
The Islanders will go for another 2-0 day tomorrow when they round out the weekend competition tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. against Coastal Carolina and 4 p.m. against hosts #14 Texas.
