AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team will get back to the sand this weekend, staying in-state to compete in the Longhorn Invitational, hosted by Texas, Friday and Saturday at the Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex.
The Islanders (2-2) will get the weekend started with another conference matchup, taking on SFA Friday at 8 a.m. Right after at 10 a.m., they will rematch Tulane seeking vengeance after narrowly falling to them last weekend. On Saturday, A&M-Corpus Christi will take on Coastal Carolina at 12 p.m. before wrapping up against Texas at 4 p.m.
Last weekend, the Islanders posted the split record to open the season and ended it with their conference opener in a 4-1 victory over Southeastern. It helped the two-time regular season defending champions improve to 34-0 against Southland opponents in regular season matches under Stammer.

Bryce Ranney posting a 3-1 record there only falling a tight three-set match to Tulane. They opened the year with a battled three-set victory over UAB before sweeping Concordia and Southeastern.
The Islanders are a perfect 8-0 all-time against SFA. They trail Tulane 6-2 in the all-time series and are knotted with Texas at 1-1. It will be the first-ever meeting between A&M-Corpus Christi and Coastal Carolina.
The Islanders are continuing to receive votes in the AVCA Poll. This weekend they are going against #14 ranked Texas as well as Tulane and Coastal Carolina who are both also receiving votes.
