NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program will look to continue where they left off last season, beginning the 2025 year at the Tulane Tournament Friday and Saturday.
The 2025 season will officially get underway for the Islanders Friday at 10:30 a.m. against UAB followed by a 12:30 p.m. matchup with Concordia-Irvine. Opening weekend will conclude Saturday with matches against Tulane at 8:30 a.m. and the first conference face-off with Southeastern right after at 11 a.m.
"We're excited about the opportunity to play against UAB, Concordina, Tulane, and Southeastern," said head coach
Gayle Stammer who is entering her 9
th year at the helm. "I believe this will be a great test for us. With the freezing temperatures, we'll need to play tough and disciplined, but I'm confident we're up for the challenge."
The Islanders will look to pick up right where they felt, as they are coming off yet another historic season which ended at the Big Dance for the third straight year. Last year's 28 wins marked a single season record for the program, who also reached historical heights by being ranked #20 nationally for the first time in school or conference history for beach volleyball.
The Islanders were in the AVCA Coaches Poll for five weeks last season and received 36 votes in the 2025 AVCA Preseason Poll.
In the SLC Preseason Poll, A&M-Corpus Christi was predicted to three-peat the regular season after posting back-to-back undefeated regular seasons in 2023 and 2024. Additionally, the conference released a list of "Players to Watch," and four Islanders graced it with returners
Madison Morrow,
Kristin Bobay, and Millie Olssen as well as the only freshman on this year's roster,
Tess Spaansen.
The Islanders return five others from last year's championship squad, while also bringing in five transfers to aim towards another historic year.
