CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Daniel Clitnovici's era will get underway with the beginning of the 2024 season, as the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team opens its year with a home weekend of two games at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium Thursday and Sunday.
The Islanders will commence the season under first-year head coach Clitnovici on Thursday against North Dakota at 7 p.m. They will spend the rest of the weekend at home with a 1 p.m. matchup against Tarleton State on Sunday.
Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
"We are looking forward to hosting two good opponents this opening weekend," said Clitnovici. "Both North Dakota and Tarleton State will be strong matches for us to test ourselves against. We have put in a lot of work this preseason and although we still have a long way to go from many different aspects, we will be ready for these two matchups. For both these games, the main focus for us will primarily be on getting better from game to game. We have seen some good improvements in the preseason on both an individual player basis but also collectively as a team, and we are looking forward to continuing this momentum."

"North Dakota come here with a very good reputation thanks to the leadership of Coach Logan. [Coach Logan] will have his group ready to go and we will need to be at our best from start to finish to get what we want from the game. North Dakota will pose some threats to us from different phrases of the game but our priority will be on ourselves. We need to be better on both sides of the ball and taking our chances," said Clitnovici.

"Tarleton State will come here ready to play and we will need fo be ready for this. Coach Cuardado has a way of getting his teams organized and always being hard to play against. All games this early in the season are unpredictable and we need to adapt with whatever comes our way. The team is excited for this one because the in-state rivalries here in Texas are the real deal," Clitnovici said.
