PONTE VERDA, Fla. – Defending its title for the fourth consecutive year, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team won the 2024 PGA Works Collegiate Championship following another impressive performance in the final round Wednesday at TPC Sawgrass.
The Islanders had begun the second round in third place, five shots off the lead, but skyrocketed up the leaderboard on day two to move into first place for the remainder of the tournament. The 299 on the final day then solidified the victory as they finished five strokes better than second.
Four Islanders turned in their best 18-hole total in the final, including senior
Lucie Charbonnier who carded a tournament-low 69 round to finish second individually. She was one stroke behind first place, a title which she had won the previous two years.
She finished every tournament this spring, including the postseason, in the top-five individually.

Samantha Gibbs was not far off from Charbonnier, coming in at third herself with a 225 three-round total. Five strokes back was sophomore
Lucia Ramirez who submitted her best round of a 74 on the day to finish with a 230, tying for eight-place.

Elsa Tornvall both improved on their game in the final third round, shooting their best 18-hole total on the last day to help the Islanders secure the outright title.
It marks the third team win for the Islanders this year after previously winning the Islanders Classic and Lamar Cardinal Challenge during the regular season. It is the second most wins in a season in program history, behind four from the 2003-04 season.
