HOLLISTER, Mo. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team finally got through a washed-out week of the Ozarks National Invitational Wednesday in sixth place after improving with a 300 round two at the Ozarks National Golf Course.
After weather shortened the tournament to 36 holes, the Islanders came out stronger in the second round for a 300 score, 27 strokes better than their first round. It helped them placed sixth to remain in the top half of the 13-team field.
Senior
Lucie Charbonnier battled back in the second, shooting 70(-2) to place tied for fifth along with teammate freshman
Samantha Gibbs as both finished with a 151 36-hole score. Charbonnier has continued to finish in the top-five in every spring tournament this year.
Junior
Lucia Ramirez improved from her first round by 11 strokes to move up to a tie for 15
th place. Also improving by double figure strokes between rounds was senior
Reese Drezins who shot 10 better than yesterday.
Freshman
Carla Puente Fernandez also shot better on day two, submitting an 88-82 – 170 tournament.
With just one final tune-up on the schedule ahead of the SLC Championship on April 15-17, the Islanders will get a sneak peek when they head to Lamar's Cardinal Challenge on April 1-2 in Beaumont.
