HOLLISTER, Mo. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team will compete in Missouri State's Ozarks National Invitation Monday through Wednesday at the Ozarks National Golf Course.
Each day will feature one round of 18 with a shotgun start. Monday and Tuesday will both begin at 10 a.m. CT while the final round on Wednesday will get going at 9 a.m.
A&M-Corpus Christi's lineup will compete against Missouri State, Bellarmine, Creighton, Indiana State, Lindenwood, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, Stephen F. Austin, and Toledo. South Dakota is the defending champion of last year's tournament.
The 12-team field will play the par 72, 6,001 yard course all three rounds.
The Islanders are having a record start to the spring season with two team-wins and two individual titles under their belts. They won the Islander Classic to open the spring before going back-to-back with a first-place finish at the UTRGV Invitational.
Senior
Lucie Charbonnier opened her final season with the all-around individual trophy at the Islander Classic after shooting even par through three rounds. She set the tone in round one after shooting a 71 (-1) before finishing strong with a 72 (E) in the third to finish ahead of second place by 11 strokes. It was her third career win as she has finished in the top-five in every tournament so far this spring.
Freshman
Samantha Gibbs is matching that success in her collegiate debut season, as she won the individual title at the UTRGV Invitational with a program record-breaking 54-hole low total of a 201 (-12). It came after also setting the program's record for low round at 66.
Most recently, the Islanders are coming off a third place showing at the HCU Huskies Intercollegiate. The top-three finish came from a 912-team total, which matched their season opening card when they won the Islander Classic. HCU finished second to be the first conference member to finish ahead of the Islanders so far this season.
The Islanders won't be competing against a Southland school this week, but will look to continue their high performing ahead of the SLC Championships set for April 15-17.
Live scoring for the tournament will be available all three days.
