CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team had three players honored on the postseason awards as the Southland Conference announced All-Conference Teams Monday.
Senior
Rachel Loetzer and junior
Mai-Lisa Atis were both honored on the Second Team as midfielders, while senior
Zoe Theriot was tabbed the Second Team's goalkeeper. It is the fourth time in program history that the Islanders had at least three players honored in the postseason.
Theriot was a three-time SLC Goalkeeper of the Week this year. This season alone, she broke the program record of most shutouts in a year by a senior goalkeeper (8) and posted nine wins on the year, also a program record by a senior goalie. Theriot played 855 minutes in the net in conference play, but 1,562 overall after starting every single game where she made 81 saves on the year. She also spearheaded another program record with four straight shutouts as the Islanders ended the year on a four-game winning streak all with clean sheets.
Atis moved to the midfield for conference play where she scored two goals off seven shots on goal. She played and started all 10 league games for 631 minutes and helped set a program record by posting four straight shutouts as the Islanders ended the year on a four-game winning streak.
Loetzer ended the year second on the team in goals (3), assists (3), and points (9), leading all midfielders on the team. She played and started all 18 games for a total of 1,301 minutes and was the first Islander this year to record multiple goals. An SLC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, Loetzer scored the game-winning goal at Southeastern that clinched the Islanders' spot in the SLC Tournament. She also contributed to the defense's eight shutouts on the year.
