CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team will be looking to stamp an exclamation mark on the already historic year in the regular season finale against UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union, Friday night at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track Stadium.
The Islanders (8-4-5, 5-2-2 SLC) are still fighting for final seeding in the conference tournament next week on their home field after clinching a spot this past weekend with a 2-0 road trip. They can be seeded as high as No. 2 with a win over UTRGV (7-5-5, 3-2-4 SLC) but can be no lower than No. 5 regardless entering next week.
It could extend a historical season under first-year head coach
Daniel Clitnovici who has guided the Islanders to their first winning season in program history.
The game will also count towards the South Texas Showdown, an annual rivalry between the two institutions presented by Rally Credit Union. The Islanders lead the all-time series 6-2.
