FRISCO, Texas – Senior
Zoe Theriot of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team has now secured her third weekly accolade of the year, winning Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week announced by the league office Tuesday.
Theriot posted two shutout wins playing all 180 minutes in the net last weekend to help the Islanders go an undefeated 2-0 on the road at Nicholls and Southeastern. It secured A&M-Corpus Christi's spot in the Southland Conference Tournament and the program's first-ever winning season.
She now solely leads the conference in shutouts with seven, which also breaks the program record for most shutouts by a senior goalie in a single season. It marks her third conference recognition this year, the most among league goalies.
"We are really proud of Zoe, she has continued to find ways to keep herself in a great place both physically and mentally so she can be the best version of herself," said head coach
Daniel Clitnovici. "This award is not just all about Zoe, it's a team award as well because Zoe has two other goalkeepers that push her to be her best and I think Zoe is finding this form because of the training environment she is surrounded by. Coach
Kennedy Stelling continues to get the most out of her goalkeepers, so this award is a special one for her too! I know Kennedy is very proud."
Despite a lot of success already secured, the Islanders will look to fight for a No. 2 seed at the conference tournament, which they'll be hosting on their home field, when they take on UTRGV Friday in the regular season finale.
