HOUSTON – Unbeaten in its last four road games, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program will travel for a 7 p.m. game Friday at HCU at Sorrels Field and a 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday at UIW at Benson Stadium.
Â
"Two very tricky road trips where the results could be determined by one or two key moments," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "HCU is unbelievable on their home field and plays good soccer. UIW plays a formation you don't see very often and have outworked every opponent they've played."
Â
The Islanders are coming off a 1-1 tie on the road at McNeese last weekend. It was highlighted by a goal in the 75th minute by junior
Megan Guy.
Â
The unbeaten road streak also includes wins at Tarleton State 3-1 and Prairie View A&M 6-0, and a 2-2 tie at Sam Houston. A&M-Corpus Christi has played seven road games this season.
Â
Sophomore
Mai-Lisa Atis has scored a team-high four goals on the season, while senior
Maggie Murray and junior
Megan Guy have each score three times. Guy leads the team with 20 shots including 15 on goal.
Â
Senior defender
Jayden Rea and junior midfielder
Gracie Gill have started all 10 games. Junior defender
Emma Crump has logged a team-high 705 minutes and has dished out a pair of assists.
Â
The Islanders played both the Huskies and Cardinals twice last season. A&M-Corpus Christi split a pair of games with HCU each winning 2-1 at home, while the Islanders swept UIW 4-1 on the road and 2-0 at home.
Â
A&M-Corpus Christi's next home game is Friday, Oct. 6 when it hosts Southeastern at 7 p.m. at Dugan Stadium.
