HUNTSVILLE, Texas – With the tournament being shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team finished sixth out of ten programs at the SHSU Remax Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational at Elkins Lake CC.
After turning in a 308 in round one, the Islanders carded a 309 in the second and final round to end with a 610 36-hole total.
Senior
Lucie Charbonnier led the Islanders for the second straight tournament, scoring a 75 on day two to end in ninth place individually. She has now placed in the top-10 in both fall competitions.
Sophomore
Elsa Tornvall turned in a 77 in round two to drop slightly to a tie for 14
th. Fellow sophomore
Lucia Ramirez improved from her first round by four strokes for a 76 to move up four spots in the rankings.
Freshman
Samantha Gibbs and junior
Reagan Gray both finished the tournament with a 163 36-hole total, which was good for a 41
st-place tie. Gray competed as an individual, as did freshman
Carla Puente Fernandez who carded an 81 in the second round.
Senior
Reese Drezins rounded out the team with a 83-85 – 168 to finish tied for 48
th.
The Islanders will be back in action Oct. 9-11 in the Golf Iconic Classes, hosted by New Mexico State.
