CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Riding a four-game unbeaten streak, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program will kick-off Southland Conference action Sunday when it hosts Texas A&M-Commerce at 1 p.m. at Dugan Stadium.

The Islanders are 2-0-2 in their last four games with wins over Prairie View A&M and Tarleton State, and ties against Sam Houston and UTRGV. Most recently, A&M-Corpus Christi came back to draw the Vaqueros 1-1 after a goal in the 78th minute by senior Maggie Murray, assisted by freshman Cariana Pou.

A&M-Corpus Christi is also unbeaten at home this year, which included a 2-0 win over Texas Southern in the season opener.

"We are playing the voted second best team in the conference," said head coach Craig Shaw. "I'm excited to see how my team responds to that."

Nine different Islanders have scored a goal including Murray and sophomore Mai-Lisa Atis who've registered three apiece. Junior Kaitlynn Melton has dished out four assists, which are tied for the second-most in single-season school history.

Junior Storm Harris has fired a team-high 13 shots, while junior Megan Guy and freshman Aaliyah Ramadan have recorded 12 shots apiece.

Junior Rachel Loetzer is the reigning Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week winner. She's one of three Islanders to start in all eight games this season along with senior Jayden Rea and junior Gracie Gill.

A&M-Commerce has non-conference wins over Tulsa 2-0 and UTEP 3-2. It also beat Stephen F. Austin 3-1 in an exhibition. The Lions were predicted to finish second in the SLC Preseason Poll. They returned four All-Conference selections from a year ago including SLC Freshman of the Year Mya Mitchell.
