A&M-Corpus Christi’s Road Trip Continues at PVAMU, SHSU this Weekend

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas. – Remaining on the road for another weekend, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program will head to Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. Friday at the PVAMU Soccer Complex and Sam Houston at 11 a.m. Sunday at Pritchett Field.
 
The Islanders are in the midst of a six-game road swing. They started it off with matches at UTRGV, Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Atlantic, and will conclude it next weekend at Tarleton State. A&M-Corpus Christi won its lone home match 2-0 over Texas Southern on Aug. 17.
 
"This weekend is a great opportunity to build on the improvements we saw last week. I am confident if we keep our focus and intensity the results will come very soon," said head coach Craig Shaw.
 
Junior Emma Crump has played a team-high 275 minutes on the field. She's one of five Islanders to start in all four games this season along with senior Kennedy Stelling, senior Jayden Rea, junior Gracie Gill and junior Rachel Loetzer.
 
Graduate Olivia Hughes, junior Megan Guy and sophomore Mai-Lisa Atis all have goals on their resumes this year. Guy also dished out an assist and leads the team with five points. Junior Morgan Westbury has tallied a team-high eight shots with half of them on goal.
 
PVAMU is 0-2 this season with defeats to Sam Houston and UIW. The Islanders are 4-1 all-time against the Lady Panthers including an 8-1 victory last season.
 
Sam Houston is 1-2 and is looking to shake off a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lamar last weekend. After beating PVAMU, the Bearkats also took a hard fought 3-1 loss to Louisiana-Monroe.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi's next home game is Thursday, Sept. 14 when it hosts UTRGV at 7 p.m. at Dugan Stadium.
