FORT MYERS, Fla. – Venturing out east to Florida for a pair of games, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program will take-on Florida Gulf Coast at 6 p.m. (CT) Thursday and Florida Atlantic at 12 p.m. (CT) Sunday.

It will be the first-ever meeting for the Islanders against either opponent.

"It's going to be a great challenge for us playing two of the top teams out of Florida. I am looking for us to start the game stronger and battle throughout," said head coach
Craig Shaw.

A&M-Corpus Christi is off to a 1-1 start to the season. The Islanders shut out Texas Southern 2-0 before falling to UTRGV 2-1. A&M-Corpus Christi outshot both opponents with a 24-6 advantage over TSU and an 8-4 edge over the Vaqueros.

Three different Islanders have scored a goal this season. Junior
Megan Guy and sophomore
Mai-Lisa Atis found the back of the next against TSU, and senior
Olivia Hughes scored off a free kick against UTRGV. Guy and junior
Morgan Westbury lead the team in shots with five apiece.

FGCU dropped its season opener in a tight 1-0 decision against Iowa. They were supposed to play again this past weekend but the game got rained out. The Eagles were 12-6-2 overall and 8-1-1 in the Atlantic Sun and won their conference tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

FAU has a pair of ties on its record after playing even with Little Rock 2-2 and Miami 1-1. The Owls outshot both teams with a 10-5 disparity over UALR and 10-7 over Miami. FAU was 11-8-3 overall and 5-4-1 in Conference USA before reaching the championship game of the conference tournament and dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker in double overtime to UTSA.

The Florida swing will be the second and third games of a six-match road swing for the Islanders. Their next home game is Thursday, Sept. 14 when they host UTRGV at 7 p.m. at Dugan Stadium.
