CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With over 20 years of experience working in athletics in the state of Texas, Jennifer Roland was named Deputy AD for External Operations at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Roland spent six years as the Director of Athletics at two different Independent School Districts in the state of Texas, Alamo Heights ISD in San Antonio and Lubbock ISD. Most recently, she worked as a Texas Realtor at The Property Shop in Fort Worth.

"I am overjoyed to join The Island University and extremely excited to be a part of the Islanders athletic department. I am grateful to President Kelly Miller, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Adrian Rodriguez and Deputy Athletic Director Eric Schultz for the opportunity to join such a dynamic group of leaders at A&M-Corpus Christi. I am truly excited about this new adventure and look forward to serving the students, athletes, coaches, athletic staff, and community as we continue to build excellence in academics and athletics," Roland said.

During her AD stints, she directed and managed the overall district athletics programs and saw her teams make team and individual appearances at State in about a dozen sports. It included final four appearances in girls soccer and boys basketball at Alamo Heights, and softball at Lubbock ISD.

Jennifer has led large athletic departments throughout Texas in the UIL/ISD space and has coached and worked in athletics at the collegiate, high school, and professional sports levels. I look forward to Jen bringing her proven record and expertise to the Island University to grow our Islanders reach and external capacity into the future," Rodriguez said. Â

Prior to serving as an AD, Roland was an Assistant Athletic Director at Wylie ISD for seven years from July 2006-June 2013. She worked as the department's Title IX Coordinator and was responsible for the sports medicine program. Wylie ISD reached the final four in football at State during her tenure.

Roland also has a coaching background. Before working as an athletics administrator, Roland was the head volleyball coach at three different schools from Aug. 1999 to July 2006. She started at McPherson College where she was the head volleyball coach and also an Assistant AD, Director of Intramurals and Assistant Professor.

Roland then was the head volleyball coach at South Hills HS and worked as a health educator and in physical education. She completed her coaching career as the head volleyball coach at Haltom HS and was also a physical education educator.

Roland began her athletics career as a marketing assistant with Richardson Sports, Carolina Panthers. She also interned for the Carolina Panthers Marketing Department in 1998-99.

Roland graduated with a Bachelor's degree in physical education from McPherson College in 1997 and a Master's in Sports Administration from Florida State in 1999.

The daughter of Keith and Linda Williams, she has a son Trae who is enrolled at North Texas and is serving in the Army National Guard, and a daughter Addison who will be competing in the Corpus Christi Special Olympics. The family has four dogs.
