Golf Remains in Fourth-Place after Day Two of SLC Championship

SAN ANTONIO – Improving its score by 10 strokes from round one to round two, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf program will head into the final day of the 2023 Southland Conference Championship in fourth-place at Hill Country Club.
 
Through two rounds, the Islanders have turned in score of 626. It included a 318 Monday and a 308 Tuesday. A&M-Corpus Christi is 19 strokes out of first-place.
 
Senior Maria Beltran continues to pave the way and is in fourth-place with a 152. She topped her 77 Monday with a 75 Tuesday to move up a couple spots on the leaderboard. Beltran is eight strokes out of first-place individually.
 
Beltran was one of four Islanders to improve from day one to day two. Junior Lucie Charbonnier followed up her 79 yesterday with a 76 today to sit in 11th with a 155. Freshman Lucia Ramirez has been consistent with 79's in consecutive rounds for a 16th-place score of 158.
 
Senior Lucy Martinez bounced back with a 78 today after recording an 83 yesterday. Sophomore Reagan Gray also took six shots off her total from yesterday, going from 86 to 80.
 
The Islanders will tee off the final round at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday and will be paired with Texas A&M-Commerce. A&M-Corpus Christi placed fourth at the conference championship last year.
