FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will face another challenging weekend when it competes in nationally ranked Arkansas's Woo Pig Classic Friday through Sunday at Bogle Park.
Play will begin Friday for A&M-Corpus Christi when it faces two Power-Five programs back-to-back. The Islanders will take on Iowa State at 10 a.m. followed by a 3 p.m. pitch against #7 Arkansas. Saturday will feature matchups with North Texas and Arkansas again at 12:30 and 5:30, respectively. The weekend will conclude on Sunday when the Islanders rematch Iowa State at 10 a.m.
It is the second tournament the Islanders will compete in this year that is hosted by an SEC program. Friday's game against Arkansas can be watched live on SEC Network+.
The Islanders (8-6) are coming off an 8-2 victory in their 2023 home opener against UTSA. A&M-Corpus Christi slugged past UTSA for a total of 13 hits, a season-best, while the Roadrunners only notched three on the day. Three Islanders turned in a multi-hit day, including senior
Alexandria Torres who went 3-for-3 at the plate.
With the 8-6 record, the Islanders have not possessed a losing record yet this season.

Primrose Aholelei threw her fifth complete game of the season where she struck out seven batters while only giving up those three Roadrunner hits through the seven innings. She has now pitched for 55.1 innings this pitched, the most in the Southland Conference and fifth most in the NCAA. She records a 2.40 ERA this year.

th in shutouts (2), 28
th in victories (5) and 45
th in strikeouts (44). Additionally, junior
Sydney Hoyt is ranked 10
th in saves (2).

Kimane Rogron turns in a team-high 16 hits for a .348 batting average. Junior
Sydney Hoyt follows her with 14 hits and is on a 10-game streak of reaching base.
Iowa State and Arkansas will be the second and third Power-Five opponents that the Islanders face this season while the Razorbacks will be the second ranked-opponent after A&M-Corpus Christi faced #14 LSU last weekend.
The Islanders will be going for its first-ever win over a ranked opponent in program history, but first over a Power Five this season after they topped Syracuse and Baylor last year.
A&M-Corpus Christi is 4-3 all-time over Arkansas. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2011 when the Islanders won 4-0.
Iowa State leads the Islanders 3-2 all-time. A&M-Corpus Christi's last win can in 2007 when they beat the Cyclones 6-2. UNT leads A&M-Corpus Christi 10-4 all-time, with the Islanders last beating the Mean Green 7-5 in 2012.
