December 06, 2023

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Department of Athletics announced the hiring of Aaron Thomas as the Director of Ticket Sales.

Thomas arrives on the Island after serving as a Ticket Operations Specialist at Murray State University. As the day-to-day ticket operations specialist with the Racers, Thomas was the primary contact for women's basketball and secondary contact for men's basketball and football. He assisted many season tickets holders in the renewal process for tickets, which included increasing football season tickets by 10% and increasing men's basketball tickets renewal rate of 96% in 2022-23.

Thomas also assisted with the development team where he helped raise over $1.5 million in revenue in 2022-23 as well as doubling fundraising from 2022 to 2023. During this time, he managed sponsorship contracts, payments, and trade.

"I am very excited about coming to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi," said Thomas. "I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing athletic department and University. I can't wait to get started and looking forward to the responsibilities and working with a great staff, student athletes, and coaches. I am excited to be an Islander. Shakas Up!"

Prior to Murray State, Thomas spent four years at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as a student and a manager for the men's basketball team. During his senior year, he assisted the Director of Basketball Operations, where he soon took over all the operation duties. Those duties included managing the budget and reconciliation of all expenses as well as running all day-to-day and travel operations. While with the team, he played a crucial role in the Little Rock Trojans winning a Sunbelt regular season championship in 2019-20.

"We are excited to be adding Aaron to the Islanders family," said Assistant AD for Marketing and Ticket Sales, Michael Wood. "He's energetic and engaging and already has varied experience in supporting student-athletes through building relationships with Athletic Department supporters. He'll be a great addition as we strive to continue to improve the Islanders game day experience and grow the Islanders fan base."

Thomas graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor's in health education & Promotion in 2022. He is currently working towards his master's in business administration.
