CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Seven student-athletes were honored from the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program prior to a 2-0 defeat to McNeese on Senior Day at Dugan Stadium on Sunday.

The Islanders held a special pregame Senior Day ceremony for
Molly Arens,
Reese Cross,
Emma Herrera,
Emily Levy,
Maggie Murray,
Jayden Rea and
Kennedy Stelling.

A&M-Corpus Christi was the better team statistically than McNeese, but the Cowgirls were able to garner goals in the 62nd and 65th minute. The Islanders outshot McNeese 15-9.

"I couldn't be prouder of the team. The result didn't go our way but we outshot them, outplayed them but the goals went against the grain of the game. That's soccer, that happens," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "They (the group of seniors) have changed the culture of this program. It's been brilliant to see the ladies come together and become a family and sisters. I really appreciate everything they've done for us."

Atis logged 90 minutes at center forward. Stelling also played 90 minutes as she got the start in net and made five saves.

A&M-Corpus Christi tallied a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Islanders will host the conference tournament beginning Wednesday, Nov. 7. Their seed and their opponent are yet to be determined.
